Abstract

The article examines the structure of procedural status of prosecutor in criminal proceedings of Ukraine. It supports approach according to which procedural status of a person encompasses his/her rights (freedoms), obligations and legitimate interests, and for an official it encompasses his/her competence (scope of legal cases that falls under official’s jurisdiction, functions and task in certain law enforcement sphere) and authority (rights, obligations). It emphasizes that legal characteristics cited above determine prosecutor’s status in criminal proceedings, uncover character and predestination of prosecutor’s criminal procedural activity.
